Delicious and spicy, perfect on cold rainy days! :)
Ingredients
500gm boneless chicken breast (cut into small cubes)
2 tsps. corn flour
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
½ tsp. black pepper powder
1 tsp. ginger paste
1 tsp. garlic paste
oil for frying
In a bowl mix together chicken, salt, ginger, garlic, black pepper, corn flour, and egg. Let it marinate for half an hour.
Additional ingredients
4 tbsps. oil
½ tsp. cumin seeds
1 tsp. ginger paste
½ tsp. garlic paste
½ tsp. black pepper powder
½ tsp. cumin powder
salt to taste
1 tsp. chili powder
2 tbsps. chili garlic sauce
2 tbsps. freshly chopped mint
4 tbsps. freshly chopped coriander leaves
3 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
a few curry leaves
1 tsp. garam masala
4 tbsps. water
few drops red food color (optional)
¼ cup of thick plain yoghurt (whipped)
sliced onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Heat oil for deep frying in a deep pan. Lower the flame, and add in the chicken pieces slowly. (Do not over crowd the pan). Fry for not more than 3 minutes. Do not over-fry, it will result in hard chicken. Remove and set aside to drain on kitchen towels.
Take another pan, add oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add in ginger, garlic, green chilies, curry leaves and fry for a minute. Next add black pepper powder, cumin powder, chili powder, and salt to taste. Then add chili garlic paste, chopped mint, chopped coriander leaves, garam masala and fry for about 1-2 minutes on medium flame.
Add little water (a few tbsps.) and cook for a minute on medium flame. Add red food color, mix well and throw in the fried chicken pieces. Mix them well so that the spices coat nicely. Add yoghurt and mix well to coat the chicken. Increase the flame to high and cook till the yoghurt is absorbed fully. Taste and adjust salt/spices. Turn off the heat.
You can garnish with sliced onions, salad etc. and serve hot. Goes well as a side dish for fried rice, fries etc.
Enjoy! :)

nice job..i have tryed many of your recipesits really great in taste..thank you..keep on going..
what if we don't add an egg for marination instead increase the quantity of corn flour?
I've personally never tried without the egg but if you like, you can try and experiment with half the amounts and see how you find the results. Let me know if you do! :)
How to use the additional ingredients in the recipe... are they added at time of marination or later after it?
After it. :)
Alla hy

how could we prepare chilli garlic sauce at home?
Simply by adding a touch of chilli and garlic paste to ketchup.
W/Salaam, simply add red chilli powder and garlic in ketchup to your desired preference of taste.

Yes the pre-frying is necessary, not sure about the colour brand you used, I use McCormick's food colouring.

Amazing job fauziya ji,
Really really amazing dishes !!!
Hi in the additional ingredients you have written salt to taste, about how much do you normally put in as i cant taste it beacuse of fasting. Jazakillah
I would estimate about half a tsp of salt, although tastes vary for salt so I hope it will be to your personal taste. Add half a tsp and then just before having iftar, give it a taste and see if you need to sprinkle a bit more on top.
salaams fauzia have you got any recipes for fried rice to go with this chicken 65,jazakallah, as im going to make it today inshaallah, ur recipes are so easy and perfect mashaallah
W/Salaam, please check the international folder for either Chicken Fried Rice or Egg Fried Rice.
Made it yesterday ... Tasted amaazing!!
salaam sis...i have marinated the chicken and fried them using the chicken manchurian recipe and kept it in the freezer....but now i want to make chicken 65 using dose frozen marinated chicken pieces.....wht do u suggest?will it work?
W/Salaam, should be ok.
Salaam,
Could you please tell me the exact amount of curry leaves?
W/Salaam, it doesn't have to be an exact amount, just a small amount, like between 5-10.
Thank you :)
Is a bit of gravy suppose to be left or do i cook it until its completely dry?
Depends on preference, you can leave a bit of gravy if you like...I prefer this dry.
Asak, I used liquid red color, maybe 4 drops, color wasn't appetizing at all. It wasn't a nice bright red like ur picture, but a dark pink. Hubby asked if the chicken was cooked properly when he saw it :/ plz tell me exactly what brand/type of coloring u use. also, is the prefrying the chken in cornflr/egg mixture necessary?
Salam fauzia..can I use drumsticks instead of the boneless chicken, many thanks
W/Salaam, yes you can.
salmaz fauzia..great recipes mashallah. quick question the plain yogurt is that cooking yogurt that is tangy..the pakeeza yogurt or plain yogurt from supermarkets? also how long do u have to whip it and is it necessary? thanks
W/Salaam, am not familiar with those yoghurts, just a simple plain yoghurt is good enough. Whip until smooth and use.
the best chicken 65 the very best thanks
salams fauziya...this one looks sooo yummy!!
want to make it for iftaar tday, had a qsn..can i roast
the chicken in the oven instead of frying it?
W/Salaam, thanks! Yes you can although it may end up being a bit too dry. Frying ensures the chicken remains moist and tender.
i made it 2dy and it turned out awesome, good comments frm the family thanks alot for sharing
Assalamualaikum fauziya..I. Have tried ur recipe today..n got good results..thank u so much..may Allah bless u...

Masha Allah,
Salaams. Is the garama masala ready made or is it the one where you use taj, elachi etc.
W/Salaam, ready-made.
Just wondering... some people use vineger in their chicken 65 recipes. Have you ever done that ?
