Tawa Pilau

I like to think of this dish as a type of 'desi' fried rice. It is a very flavourful famous Mumbai street food that is super easy to put together. The best thing about it is that it makes use of leftover cooked plain rice to prepare a really delicious new meal.

Ingredients
2 cups
cooked rice
(preferably made the day before)
2 tbsp
butter
1 tbsp
oil
1 tsp
cumin seeds
1
small red onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp
garlic paste
1/2 tsp
ginger paste
1
green capsicum, chopped
1 cup
chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup
boiled peas
1 tsp
red chilli powder
1/4 tsp
turmeric powder
2 tsp
pav bhaji masala powder
(a spice mix that combines cardamom, coriander, black pepper, fennel, cumin, dry chillies, cinnamon, cloves and dry mango)
salt to taste
1/4 cup
water
some fresh coriander for garnishing
Instructions 

Heat the oil and butter in a pan, then add the cumin seeds and allow them to splutter. Next add the onions and fry them until lightly golden. Stir in the ginger and garlic pastes, followed by the capsicum and chopped tomatoes. Sprinkle on all the powdered spices and some salt, cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes soften. Add a quarter cup of water to help loosen up the mixture, then tip in the peas and the pre-cooked rice. Stir fry until everything is well combined. Cover the pan and turn the heat down to very low. Allow it to steam for about 5-10 minutes and serve garnished with some fresh coriander.

hi may i knw wat side dishes wil be suitable along with this rice

Hi, normally this dish doesn't require side dishes as it has just about everything you might need already included. But you can serve it with some pickle or kachumbar or raita if you like.
