This simple pudding can be served on it's own or used in making a trifle or in layering any other dessert.

Ingredients
500ml
whole milk
(or skimmed if you like)
5 tbsp.
sugar
2 slightly heaped tbsp.
custard powder
pinch of cardamom
drop of vanilla essence
3-4 tbsp.
evaporated milk
nuts for garnishing
Instructions

First, mix the custard powder separately in a small bowl with about 2 tbsp. of milk. Pour the remainder of the 500 ml in a pan with the evaporated milk and sugar and bring it to almost boiling point then lower the heat.

Add the cardamom and vanilla followed by the custard mixture and keep stirring until the mixture thickens (for about 2-3 minutes) then turn off the heat. If lumps of custard occur, pass the mixture through a sieve so it smooths out.

Pour into serving bowls and let it cool to room temp, then garnish with nuts and refrigerate until cold. It will thicken more as it cools.

Serve and enjoy!

W/Salaam, concentrated milk, normally comes in a can. Unsweetened.

Salam.I want to knw wat is evaporated milk.

W/Salaam, that would be 2 and a half cups.

What u meen by evaprated milk?

iz it amust i iput evaporated milk?

No, it is just something that helps to make the pudding richer, you can leave it out.

If I want to add condensed milk instead of evaporated milk.how much do I use? Do I have to reduce the sugar.

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

Use the same amount but reduce the sugar by half. Then give it a taste as it boils and see if you need extra sugar.

would love to try this for my Dad:)

made the custard today and it tooo tooo tooooo yummy....thank you and bless you....!!

I made a mistake following directions...instead of 3-4 tbsp evap.milk, I used the entire can! Can my custard be fixed?. Help, plz!

Use more custard powder to help thicken it, and make sure to taste and adjust for sugar as needed because the recipe will now have thrown off the right amount of sugar.

I tried it today, absolutely delicous. Thank u SIS fauzia.

Salaam can i use cornstarch instead of custard powder?

W/Salaam, well yes you can although it will not have the customary custard flavour that you would get with custard powder.
