A dessert that incorporates cake, caramel pudding, pineapple and cream. Rich, delicious and really easy to put together, one of my favourite recipes!
Ingredients
- plain cake, cut into cubes (I baked a simple vanilla cake for this, but you can use box cakes or ready-made ones...any plain vanilla cake will do)
- 1 box/packet instant caramel pudding
- 1 ½ cups of whipping cream + 1 tbsp. icing sugar+ 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup pineapple wedges, drained
- milk as needed to make the caramel pudding PLUS 1 more cup
Instructions
Here is the recipe for my Plain Vanilla Cake.
Place the cubed cake pieces in a bowl/dish. Prepare the caramel pudding according to instructions, but add an extra cup of milk above what they ask for on the box. When ready, pour it onto the cake and let this cool completely. You can even cling film and refrigerate until the pudding sets.
Whip the cream with the icing sugar and a tsp. of vanilla plus the pineapple wedges. Pour this on your cooled set cake pudding evenly.
Heat the small caramel sachet that comes with the Instant Pudding for about 10 secs in the micro. Cut a small hole and drizzle the caramel all over the dessert. Refrigerate.
Serve chilled & enjoy! 🙂

I am going to make it on Sunday for a party at my place, was wondering when you say cut the cake in cubes, what does that mean should I cut the whole cake in small square pieces? Also I matched the greens caramel ingredients and everything with the instant mix we get here in us it’s called jell o flan mix. It is a caramel pudding in which we use hot milk. Just letting you so if anyone else like me has gone to all the supermarkets in the US..

Yes cut into square pieces. And yes the flan is the same thing, it will be fine. 🙂

Wonderful and easy recipe. I’d like to give it a go but was just wondering… If I bake the vanilla cake in a 9×11″ glass dish (as the one pictured above), do I still have to slice the cake into pieces and rearrange them with the inside part facing the top?? Or would it be sufficient to just pierce the cake and then pour the caramel on top and allow it to soak?? Will this work???

Hi, the amount sounds about right, did you let the cake cool with the pudding? If you did and the pudding still did not set them please try a different brand because it SHOULD set as it cools. 🙂

Salam Fauzia…hop u r doing good… 🙂 i tried this desert 3-4 times now…n it tastes owsm….every1 loved it n the guests really admired me for this …. but 1 problem which i had every time i made this was … after taking out one serving from the dish…it starts releaasing liquid…n the dish bcoms watery…its kind of embarrasing wen it happens wid the guests…like say supoose if u have finishd half dish … the leftover cake is still in the dish but other half of the dish is liquid…y is it sooo ??? i refrigerated the caramel n cake overnight n the next day wen i did the topping by tht tym the pudding was very well set n not at all wateryy…i can c in ur pic tht aftr takin out one serving …ur dish is clear …but wen i tke out a spoon full out of a dish…the liquid is deposited instead of the dish being clean…wat cud b the posible reason for tht ??? waitin for ur reply… 🙂 thnks… 🙂

W/Salaam, thanks for the lovely feedback. Am surprised though about the water, that has never happened with me. Could it be that you overwhip the whipping cream? Normally whipping cream would release water if it is overwhipped. I cannot think what else it could be. Try to whip the cream for slightly less time and see if that helps. 🙂
